Summary

Well this is the end of my first college project. It was interesting and exciting. It definitely made me think in ways I haven't before. Having no experience in anything entrepreneur related. This project was certainly a great experience. My idea hasn't changed so much but it has changed. I wanted to make something useful and fun and even something I might even use. I wanted an idea that would I could help my friends because I know for sure they have been in these situations far too many times.
Honestly I am really happy with what the outcome was even though there are still plenty of things I could and have to do when if i were go on. I would have to think more about what would go in the product before I think about selling and marketing. I have to come up with an ACTUAL product otherwise it would just be silly to talk about something that does not exist yet. It really put things in perspective when I had to incorporate the class's lecture towards my idea because if I were to do the exact same project perhaps by myself or another project I would not think about the technical aspects or even using social media as advertisement. This class has really guided me through it.
My idea went from a battery all the way to a service that people pay for or even something separate. It been a really interesting. I did not know how difficult it was to come up with an idea and stick with it and actually do things to make it happen. It makes me think about everything in this world and how everything was thought of.

blog #7

Well its almost to the end and I do not think I have made much improvement in my idea and it will probably be scrapped by the end of this project. But who knows. I sure don't. Last week we talked about networks. Which gave me another idea but something that just popped up and probably won't think any further of it. It probably has nothing to do with networks but I was thinking instead of being physical maybe it could be a game totally different for what I was going for I know. But as I said before it is probably something I would not pursue if I were to have the chance.
So for networks I was thinking about maybe making it available to connect with other people, possibly the owner's friends and family and possibly connect and have the send power to the battery like maybe spare some of theirs kinda like a game perhaps. I really want to make something fun and somehow incorporate some fun and games into it. I want to be a good influence in general.
But when it comes to networks and security like secure socket layers I would definitely want whatever my product may be , to be, extremely secure. Especially when I had an idea about it being a paid service and transaction happening over the phone and internet and networks. I would not want any hackers to get into the database and steal information. That would be most unfortunate. Who knows what it could be my idea could evolve in so many ways. Maybe one day its something physical like a battery and then it is a facebook app thing where you have to log in and get points? Who knows? We will just have to wait and see.

blog #6

The topic of operating systems came up during a lecture and it made me wonder, whether or not it is a physical part of the phone internally or have an external part that would connect onto a phone or any other electronic device that would need a separate wire to charge it. Which as I said has got me thinking about if it were real would I make it available to all phones? Or sell it to a specific brand. Apple iOS or Android? Or even other mobile operating systems. Would it be an application on the itunes store? Would it be on the android market both? If it were only available to certain phone users what would happen I wonder. What would happen if I made it available to everyone.
I think operating systems is a very important topic when it comes to phone because a lot of people out there have their preferences and prefer certain things over the other. There are people out there who like Apple iOS over the Android and vice versa. So how would I be able to decide? How would I approach the idea of people's preferences and what people prefer. This can go back to using social media to conduct surveys to get peoples opinions on who would use it on what more. People are attracted to the look and feel of something if the user interface has a good appeal and easy to use I feel as if that is what would get the customer.
I think operating systems would be a big part in marketing and generating any product in general. If I were to actually make my product this would be a very big topic I would have to think about. Personally I like the android os. So I would have to think about other peoples thought and what they want and not just what I want to put out there. This is a lot harder than I thought it would be but going through the thought process is very interesting.

blog #5

Today's blog is going to talking about another blog. A professional blog. Like Techcrunch.com. They talk about everything technology and I am interested in that so I will be talking about a blog there by Greg Kumparak. He wrote a blog called "Want to see the next version of android? a bevy of ice cream sandwich screenshots leak". Which is just showing pictures and talking about like in the title the next version of android which is a big deal for techies.
I really like how in the blog the blogger is not being formal. He is not writing an article, he is just expressing his opinion and that adds a bit of humor into it. I like how he isn't addressing a certain crowd he is just saying what he wants to say. He also provides visuals for the reader and asking the audience questions asking whether they like it or not, giving them something to think about.
Something I don't like about the blog is it could be a little longer. Although I liked how he spoke what he thought and somewhat criticized google/samsung he could've talk more about google or samsung maybe a little backround into the ice cream sandwich. I think it would've been a little bit more useful and just make the blog look more fuller.

Blog #4

At the moment I have scattered thoughts about my product. So let me get them out before i forget.
So one thing could be that the lower the battery gets, the resolution would get more pixelated  giving the owner incentive to charge the battery. The only problem with that would be that a potential customer might think the feature would be annoying and not buy the product at all. I don't see it working out very well but it is an idea nonetheless.

Another idea was like make a the battery itself not a specific phone and and make different models of the battery belonging to certain phones and let people by it if they want. So it would be optional and could be bought at a phone store perhaps. Having the feature on a battery which people can buy if they wanted it. The problem would be that it might not be profitable and it would take a lot of money to make it because we would have to consider all the phone battery models and produce it accordingly. It could be very costly and not make a profit.

The last idea was another option of the wireless charging when there is an RFID chip inserted in either the phone or the battery itself and have charging stations all over the city or even just a mall where you can just tap and have it the battery charged and charge it onto their phone. Perhaps there could be options where a person can choose to charge to half way for 50 cents and fully charged for a dollar and it would go directly towards the phone bill so they wouldnt have to pay for it then and there or earn credit from maybe taking surveys from sponsors. Details would probably be decided on a later time but it would be that kind of concept.

I feel as if the RFID idea would be most profitable and convenient. When thinking about my ideas I always try to relate it to me and ask myself, would I use that? Also I would try to get feedback from my friends and ask what dont you like about it? what do you like about it? It is very useful and productive and helps with the thinking process when trying to improve it.

Blog #3

Hardware is an important part of technology. Honestly I have not been thinking about how it can contribute with my project. I know for sure though any idea not just mine needs hardware for their device or what ever they want to do for their entrepreneurial idea because whatever they do they will need computers and technology because we live in an age where we depend on our cell phones, ipods, computers and tablets. Even with a computer there are many components that make one up. There are parts to make the graphics look good, parts to make it perform faster, parts to transmit signals and such, and even parts for it to receive power.
For my device I would probably have to research further into the parts and components that go into a cell phone and how to make the battery self charging and make it recognize when the owner of the phone is being active and moving. Something would have to activate it which is why I mentioned a pedometer in the beginning. A pedometer measures a persons steps and is able to estimate the distance a person runs or walks for. I would need some sort of hardware that recognizes the movement or is triggered when it realizes when the pedometer is in use.
I am not exactly sure what kind of things go into a cell phone but I do know that is it similar to a computer and also has a central processing unit (CPU). Cell phones power supply is a rechargeable battery by plugging in a wire and charging your phone and that is what I want the change. I want to lessen the hassle of bringing a charger with oneself whenever going out. With my product you wont even need a charger.

Blog #2

Ok so I have my idea which recapping from my first blog would pretty much to sum it up a cell phone with a battery that somehow contains a pedometer which when detects movement will charge the phone. Which could encourage people to exercise and help those who already do by relieving them the hassle of bringing their phone charger everywhere and desperately look for an outlet. I have been there and done that. It can also help those who like to shop! When walking around the mall their phone battery won't die since they are constantly charging it by doing what they like to do in a mall, walk!
My last post was based on just using social media to spread the word about my product or anyone's product as a matter of fact. Last week's lectures were also social media but taking the privacy and security aspect of it in consideration. The other lecture were about excel. I am not sure how privacy and social media would connect to the entrepreneurial idea but I guess I can see a bit of a connection when using social media you have to set your privacy settings according to what you want people to see and how much information about yourself you want people to know which can apply to my idea. If I do decide I want to use social media to advertise my product I would have to be really careful when releasing information about myself about the product.
Wednesday lecture was about excel. I think if I were to manufacture and begin selling things I would probably use Microsoft excel to keep track of everything. Doing the excel lab really helped because I am not very familiar with it and it help me learn to do basic things and while doing the lab I realized that excel is very useful for business purposes. It adds things up, it finds averages, it just does all the math for you. All you have to do is find the formula. If I were to make a business I would definitely use excel to keep all my records and sales and such.

Blog #1

Something I have been thinking about since Wednesday's lecture was about the technology I use everyday which would be my laptop, cell phone, ipod, alarm clock to just name a few. I kept thinking about it and realized that technology is used everyday like swiping to open the door of my dormitory to swiping in at the dining hall. Everything is eventually going to be connected to technology in some way. I wanted to find a to find a way to improve cell phones because everyone has one nowadays so why not find a way to make them better. Personally I would always be in a position where my phone is running out of battery and I would not have my charger with me because really who brings their charger with them? I don't at least. So I am in this predicament and I am just wishing there was a way to charge it somehow some way.
I wanted my idea to relate to something I enjoy doing and that would be running although I do not run very well its something I enjoy doing whenever I would have the time for it. So my idea is to somehow find a way to put a pedometer into a cell phone battery that charges itself when the owner moves. So whenever they walk, run, or whenever they work out it charges without having the hassle of bringing a charger and having to find an outlet. My idea incorporates something I like to do with a problem that can occur at anytime.
At Wednesday's lecture we were talking about social media. I think for entrepreneurs social media is a very good way to get information about their service and or product out there. I would use social media perhaps twitter or facebook to maybe conduct surveys asking if they would use or buy the product and how they would use it. Maybe even ask for suggestions or feedback about it. The downside of it is that someone else might steal the idea and make their own if someone is not careful enough. I think social media would be the way to go when I would want to get the word out about my product and maybe get an estimate on how many people would actually buy it and not think it is a total waste. I am curious on how I will be able to develop this idea.
